I think Berlitz is the best language course you can find, they have different types of learning modes and more than 100 languages, you can get DVDs, Audio CDs and Phrase books, but the best one is the Think and Talk which has study books, audio cassets ( or cds ) and dictionary plus a practice book to follow the audio lessons. I learn 2 languages myself in less than 3 months, well, I can say I learn to communicate and understand the basics. Try amazon.com to find any Berlitz course, get it used from $40 and new about $100, they are worth it, trust me.

The Rosetta Stone is also a great choice. Berlitz is cheaper and very effective. Also, try amazon.com books, they are affordable and they have a great variety of books from less than a dollar.
